2024 NBA playoffs thread

That's the maddening thing about KP. When he's healthy he's a game-changer. Dallas had him and he couldn't stay healthy. Boston has him now and if he stays healthy, the Celtics win the Larry.

The historian and lefty blogger Erik Loomis summed up this series on Twitter last night. "If Jrue Holiday is like the fifth best player on your team, you have a really really really good team." Just that somple.

Way, way, way too soon.

1985 was a better year.

Like you, I prefer the CBS theme in the 1980s much more.

I've said on here before that this Game 6 intro is my all-time favorite. Great music, great words from Brent--"The stars are ready"--leading to greatest win in Lakers history.

I've been watching a lot of old CBS and NBC intros and found absolutely, positively, the most bizarre one. I can't imagine anything competing with it.

Game 4 of 1986 Finals. Starts off normally with the classic CBS music and graphics and Brent setting the stage as Houston is coming off a big win in Game 3 against the Celtics. Then it transitions to shots of Houston and...Musburger talking about Houston being a boom town that's gone bust. Talks about the unemployment rate. Real estate tanking. There's a shot of a strip club sign. But folks are happy because they get to go to the Finals!

I'm sure part of my disconnect with sports today is I can't look at a floor/field and tell 1. who is playing and 2. who is the home team. Some things should be pretty basic. But I'm a dinosaur.

As much as I hate Alabama and dislike the Yankees, they always get it right in the uniform department.

Is it too much to ask that the Boston Celtics wear one of the most iconic uniforms in sports for their home games in the NBA Finals?

Yes, looking sharp in the NBA Finals ... at home ... and the visitors are in white.

The Celtics should always lose when they wear those black with green numbers atrocities. Just disgraceful.

I loathe the Celtics. But their traditional uniforms are pretty sweet. As a Lakers fan, I've never liked their home whites. And of course their blacks. Should always wear the gold at home.

I wish I could see going home as something that will jump-start the Mavericks, but I'm not seeing it.

And the playoffs that started with so much promise may end with its final three series going 4-0, 4-1, 4-1(?).
