Music Thread (post a song)

Much like somebody else discovering the female prostate (not me!), I have discovered the 1970s equivalent of John Pardi.

Lighting the UK on fire right now. Late 90s-early Aughts me might have liked this song. But the mish-mash of musical elements is just too busy.

Like cramming peanut butter, anchovies and sushi all together.

There's something about this song that I really like. In fact, I like it better than anything his ex-mate, Harry Styles, has done.

I'm on my fourth listen of the Gaslight Anthem's new album. I haven't done this with anyone in a while (Springsteen's Western Stars maybe?).

I'm just so grateful they are back. How many second chances to do you get with your favorite band coming back together, and it working?

And this album cracks.

Heard this this morning on the local jazz station as I was working. Incredible piece.

Music related. Cameron Crowe is basically my age. I was buying Rolling Stone when he was just beginning to get published. I may still have that Allman Brothers issue boxed up somewhere. Anyhow, this really spoke to my old Boomer ash.

Who did the opening to Loser better ...

Beck ...

In the time of chimpanzees I was a monkey
Butane in my veins and I'm out to cut the junkie
With the plastic eyeballs, spray-paint the vegetables
Dog food stalls with the beefcake pantyhose

Kill the headlights and put it in neutral
Stock car flamin' with a loser and the cruise control
Baby's in Reno with the vitamin D
Got a couple of couches, sleep on the love-seat

... or the Grateful Dead

If I had a gun for every ace I have drawn
I could arm a town the size of Abilene
Don't you push me, baby, because I'm moanin' low
And you know I'm only in it for the gold

All that I am asking for is ten gold dollars
And I could pay you back with one good hand
You can look around about the wide world over
And you'll never find another honest man
