2024-25 College Basketball Thread

Corny. Goofy. Funny. Perfect for college-age kids who like and watch Fallon and will be talking about it. Of course, the Bluebloods and Olds sniff and tutt-tutt but then secretly ask their ADs or coaches why Fallon didn't come to THEIR skool to promote good ol' Blueblood U.

Smart move by Rick and SJU to do this. National advertising of the brand when they're on the rise and probably for pennies.

And nobody is better at being a media wart than Rick.

The SEC fined Ole Miss $500,000 for storming the court after its win against Tennessee on Wednesday. Ole Miss AD Keith Carter says in a statement, "Hey, ashholes, this ship is getting expensive so knock it the hell off."

STATEMENT: Keith Carter Addresses Tennessee Court Rush, SEC Fine - Ole Miss Athletics - Hotty Toddy

"Wednesday was a momentous night for the Ole Miss men's basketball team. Our program has experienced record attendance growth this season, and that is due to the love and support of Rebel Nation. Unfortunately, Wednesday's special moment was marred by the unacceptable behavior of a select few in our fanbase that chose to impatiently rush the court before the Tennessee team and game officials had exited and before the crowd was welcomed to come down.
"These selfish actions have consequences, as they will cost our coaches and student-athletes valuable resources. We are being levied a $500,000 fine to bring our department's total to $850,000 for the season. Additionally, SEC regulations dictate that this money be distributed to the opposing institution. With potential future fines continuing at a similar level, it is imperative that we take immediate action to end this behavior."

It would have been more effective to lean into the camp. Belt out the chorus like a bunch of grizzled old salts who just docked in port to enjoy extra rations of rum. Have some instrumentation besides a metronome drumbeat.

I don't know where to begin with Fallon (I presume that's him) dressed like a blood drop from a filmstrip about menstruation they show to intermediate school girls.

You think college age kids are watching Jimmy Fallon? Gutfield and Colbert are both higher than him in that demo. It has 25,000 views on YouTube. I mean, it's not a negative for St. John's, but Jimmy Fallon is slightly more popular than Drake at this point in time.

I don't know if it was Palm or Lunardi but two nights ago one of them said Drake won't make the tournament if it doesn't win the MVC championship. Crazy, they are now into the SF and are 28-3 overall. The MVC is a reputable conference, they won every game they played against P4 opponents (who wants to schedule them? No P4 team with a coach with brains), if you go 29-4 you should be in, even if you don't win the title. But Indiana State had a solid team and got snubbed last year, so I guess they better win.

They said the same thing about VCU. As much as it pains me to say it VCU should be a lock. They are outstanding.

I'm hardly a college kid, but to me Fallon makes Jay Leno look like Lenny Bruce.
