2024-25 College Basketball Thread

Ain't bragging if you back it up.

They had a hell of a time making free throws the other night or they would have had a much more decisive win against Marquette.

I love the way St. John's plays defense.

Michigan is a 3.5-point favorite over Indiana and leads 70-64 with 2.5 seconds to play. Indiana in-bounds the ball and some guy casually hucks up a 3/4-court shot. Swishes for a 70-67 final but Indiana covers. That's a bad beat.

I saw the ending of that game and wondered if that basket was as meaningless as the announcers said. Another reason I don't bet on sports!

Stanford women lost by 49 points at Notre Dame on Thursday night, its worst-ever defeat. They are 3-8 in the ACC, 11-11 overall, and won't make the NCAAs, barring an ACC tournament miracle or some outright shenanigans by the Selection Committee.

Tara read the room pretty well. She wanted nothing to do with the ACC, the ridiculous travel schedule, and NIL. Her name is on the court, is legacy is intact and that's good enough.
I'm wondering how it go so bad so quickly, though. The Cardinal have been slow to embrace NIL, thus the hiring of Andrew Luck.

Maybe 1, Stanford cares more about playing big-time athletics than winning in big-time athletics and 2, figures it's like the Ivy League: Why should we pay anyone to go here when our acceptance rate is 5% at best and the degree is so valuable?

The rule of thumb out here is, you get accepted at Stanford, you go. No questions asked. That's why many in Microville were shocked when a generational women's runner in town turned down a full ride there to go to NCSU. Yes, NCSU has a great program, but it most certainly isn't Stanford.

Hell of a game between Mizzou and the Tammies with high-level play all game from both teams. Great shot by the A&M dude — and it took that to beat this Tigers team. That's Elite Eight ship right there.

The SEC is a slugfest every game.
