The Soccer Thread (Version 14.5) -- We Don't Need Another Euro

Yes.

What fans want is so down the list of priorities you need to insert coins in one of those novelty telescopes at Rock City to notice it.

Money rules everything more than ever. In every sport. We lived through the golden age of access and it is done like dinner. Pay up or pish off is the new national motto.

Admittedly, I find it difficult to bench too loudly about stuff like this when my own work largely resides behind a paywall. But in this case, it's about hording an asset.

F*** Fox. They going to farm out World Cup games in 2026 when there are double the teams of Euro 2024?
I genuinely don't understand what is going on here. I am watching all these games on FS1 or Fox.
What am I missing?

You won't be seeing Slovakia-Ukraine on FS1 or Fox on Friday. Or Georgia-Czechia on Saturday.

Hungary-Switzerland last Saturday, Romania-Ukraine on Monday, Turkey-Georgia on Tuesday weren't aired by Fox or FS1.

Got it. Thanks.

Until this thread, I was blissfully unaware that I wasn't seeing Georgia-Czechia on Fox :D

Fox has sublicensed some of the early group games involving low profile teams in early time slots to FuboTV, an $80 a monh subscription service. Some folks are pissed.
